On Friday 23rd May the Greenhaw Boys Gaelic Team attended the City Finals after qualifying from the Steelstown Cup in March. I am very pleased to report that the boys lifted the Tower Cup for the first time, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament.
The team qualified from their group and met reigning champions, Hollybush in the semi-final. The team showed fantastic commitment and character in the final, beating Our Lady of Fatima by 5 points.
Even more positive news, Daniel Smith in Primary 7 was selected as ‘Laochra Gael’, the player of the tournament. A hugely talented athlete and inspirational team mate.
Well done to all the boys on their hard work and a huge thank you to Gary Cunningham, Games Promotion Officer at Steelstown G.AC for all his expert coaching in school.
The boys will attend the Derry County Finals in Owenbeg on Friday 13th June to try to reclaim our county title. Details to follow.
