PATHS addresses the following areas:

  • self-control

The RRSA (Rights Respecting School Award) and PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) have made such a positive impact on the ethos of our school. Both of these initiatives work together in supporting our children to become the best that they can be.

PATHS has allowed our children to express themselves in many positive ways ( Article 12). The introduction of 'Pupil of the Day' allows the children to celebrate achievements and talents through the use of compliments (Article 29).

At the heart of our learning is the recognition that all children have rights (Article 1), no matter where in the world they may be. PATHS has given the children another opportunity to understand the importance of global citizenship.

As a rights respecting school our children are encouraged to resolve conflicts and seek consensus while accepting the rights of others to hold different opinions and beliefs. PATHS has given the children strategies to resolve conflict and maintain self control.
