Safer Internet Day Assembly
6th Feb 2026
Primary 6 led a successful assembly to mark Safer Internet Day, sharing important messages about staying safe online and using artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly.
The assembly opened with the story of DigiDuck, who was taken on a journey into the future by a wise old owl. Through this story, the children explored the consequences of a decision DigiDuck made after almost sharing an AI-generated image of a friend. This helped pupils understand how online actions can have lasting effects.
Mr Martin’s Primary 6 class then spoke confidently about the role of AI in our lives. They highlighted how AI can be a useful tool for learning, while also explaining that it cannot create ideas of its own or understand emotions in the same way that people can. The children emphasised the importance of using AI in a safe, responsible and respectful way.
The key message of the assembly was the importance of kindness online. Pupils were reminded to think carefully about their choices and to use technology in a way that makes others feel safe and valued. The assembly was an excellent opportunity for Primary 6 to share their learning and promote positive digital behaviour across the school.
